Privacy Policy
GenVision helps you make your iPhone easier to see. Because doing that can involve sensitive information about your eyesight, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created as you use GenVision, and a limited amount of technical information from your device.
Information you provide
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, and a password. We may also collect information used for two-factor authentication (2FA), such as a verification code sent by text or generated by an authenticator app.
- Profile details: an optional profile photo and your ZIP or postal code.
- Vision information: the results of the in-app comfort/clarity check, and any prescription details you choose to enter. You are never required to enter a prescription.
- Communications: messages you send us, such as support or feedback emails.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data: basic information about how you use the app and the device you use it on (such as device model and operating-system version), which helps us keep GenVision working and improve it.
- Location: if — and only if — you grant permission, we use your approximate location to show nearby eye-care providers and eyewear options. You can turn this off at any time in your device settings.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, including 2FA.
- To recommend and apply accessibility settings based on your check results or prescription.
- To provide features such as profile switching, the magnifier, and quick activation.
- To show relevant local eye-care and eyewear options when you've enabled location.
- To send you service messages (for example, security or account notices) and, where you've opted in, product updates.
- To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve GenVision.
- To comply with the law and protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.
3. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these limited ways:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to run GenVision — for example, cloud hosting and authentication (such as Amazon Web Services), communications delivery (such as SendGrid for email and text), and vision-assessment technology (such as Visibly). These providers may process your information only to perform services for us.
- Affiliate and advertising partners. Featured eye-care providers and eyewear brands may appear in the app. We share aggregated, non-identifying performance information with these partners (such as total views or clicks). We do not share your name, contact details, or vision data with them.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GenVision, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If GenVision is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Sensitive and health-related information
Information about your eyesight, including any prescription you enter, may be considered sensitive. We apply safeguards designed to protect this information, limit access to it, and use it only for the purposes described here. GenVision's in-app check is intended for comfort and accessibility, not medical diagnosis, and is not a substitute for professional eye care. [If GenVision is offered in a context subject to specific health-privacy laws such as HIPAA, [Company Legal Name] will handle covered information in accordance with applicable requirements — confirm with counsel before publishing.]
5. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can review and update your account and profile information in the app.
- Deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated personal information by contacting us.
- Location: you can grant or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
- Communications: you can opt out of non-essential product emails using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. We may still send essential service messages.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We will respond as required by applicable law in [Governing-Law Jurisdiction].
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide GenVision, and afterward only as long as necessary for legitimate business or legal purposes. When information is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or de-identify it.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted access to accounts and data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to address issues promptly.
8. Children's privacy
GenVision is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app or by email.
